What is LeakHunt?

Every store has codes that were never meant to be public: the welcome offer, the influencer code, the one a customer service rep handed out once. Sooner or later they end up on RetailMeNot, Coupert, Wethrift and the rest, and from there inside Honey and the other coupon extensions that try every code they know at your checkout. LeakHunt’s job is to tell you which of your codes are out there, let you shut them down, and make sure the extensions get nothing in the meantime.

It does two things.

The tools

Leak Radar

Scans the busiest coupon sites for codes attributed to your store, checks every candidate against your store, and shows you only the codes that exist and currently work. Each row has a one-click Disable and a Mark as intentional for the codes that are public on purpose.

Extension Guard

When a shopper’s browser is running a coupon extension, your leaked codes are rejected at that shopper’s checkout, however the code was entered. Every other shopper, and every code you meant to be public, is untouched.

LeakHunt works on every Shopify plan. There is no Shopify Plus requirement.

How it works

Three things are true of everything LeakHunt does:

• Only verified codes are shown. Coupon sites are mostly junk: expired codes, made-up codes, another brand’s codes. LeakHunt checks every candidate against your store’s discounts before it ever reaches your list. A short list of real leaks is the whole product.
• Decisions are yours. LeakHunt never disables a code on its own. Disable and Mark as intentional are buttons you press, and no scan ever undoes a decision you made.
• Your checkout is never at risk. Extension Guard only affects shoppers running a coupon extension, and if anything about the check can’t be completed, the code goes through. The failure mode is one discount, never a lost sale.

One setup step is worth knowing up front: Extension Guard needs LeakHunt’s app embed switched on in your live theme. It’s a single switch in the theme editor, with no code to paste, and the guide walks it through.
