Leak Radar
Leak Radar is the Leak Radar card on the dashboard: the list of your discount codes that are published on public coupon sites and still work.
Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”Click Turn on Leak Radar. The first scan starts right away, runs in the background, and most finish within a few minutes. The page polls while it runs, so you can wait or close it.
After the first scan there is nothing to trigger. Scans run themselves on a schedule that follows your plan: every night on Hunter, weekly on Basic. The card shows Last scan and how often it runs. There is deliberately no “scan now” button: a scan you’d have to remember to run is a scan that doesn’t happen.
What a scan does
Section titled “What a scan does”- Checks the coupon sites. LeakScout, our in-house scanning service, reads the busiest coupon sites (RetailMeNot, Coupert, Wethrift, CouponBirds and the rest) for codes attributed to your store’s domain.
- Verifies every candidate against your store. Most of what’s published is junk: expired codes, invented codes, codes from another brand. Each candidate is checked against your discounts through Shopify, and only codes that exist and currently work are kept. A code that doesn’t resolve is never saved and never shown.
- Re-checks what it already knows. Every scan also re-verifies the codes already on your list, so a code you disabled or deleted in the Shopify admin updates on its own.
A code with a small total usage limit (fewer than ten redemptions in all) is not reported, whatever its status: the damage is bounded and you’ve effectively contained it. A code with no usage limit is the dangerous case and always counts.
The list

The stat above the list, Active leaked codes, counts the Live view.
When the list is empty
Section titled “When the list is empty”A first scan can legitimately find nothing. In that case the card says No leaked codes found and tells you what was checked, so you know the scan ran. It’s a good result, not a broken one.
Actions per code
Section titled “Actions per code”Open the menu on a row:
- View details shows the coupon sites it was found on and when it was first seen.
- Disable turns the code off in Shopify, immediately. The row moves to the Disabled filter as the record of the leak. This is the real fix: the code stops working for everyone.
- Mark intentional is for a code that’s supposed to be public: an affiliate code, an influencer code, the one printed on your packaging. It stays on the list with an Intentional badge, Extension Guard never blocks it, and no scan ever undoes the decision. Not intentional reverses it.

What happens to a code over time
Section titled “What happens to a code over time”- You disable or delete it, in LeakHunt or in the Shopify admin: the next scan sees the change and the row moves to Disabled.
- The listing disappears from the coupon sites: nothing changes, by design. A code that has been published has been copied, cached and passed around, and it still works, so it’s still a leak. Only turning the code off resolves it.
- You delete and later recreate a code with the same name: the next scan finds it working again and it comes back as live. The intentional flag survives, because it’s a decision about the code, not about one discount.
Email alerts
Section titled “Email alerts”On Hunter, every scan that finds something new sends one email to the addresses under Settings → Email alerts: the new codes, whether each is live or scheduled, and a button to open LeakHunt. A scan that finds nothing new sends nothing. Codes on your whitelist are never included. Set it up here.
If a scan fails
Section titled “If a scan fails”The card shows Last scan failed with the list from the previous scan still in place, and the next scheduled scan tries again on its own. If the very first scan fails, the card offers Try again.
