Set up Extension Guard

Extension Guard needs to know when a shopper’s browser is running a coupon extension, and for that LeakHunt needs its app embed switched on in your live theme. Shopify doesn’t let an app do this by itself, so it’s one switch you flip. No code to paste, about a minute.

  1. On the LeakHunt dashboard, find the Extension Guard card. If it reads Not added to your live theme yet, click Add it in the theme editor. The theme editor opens in a new tab, on your live theme, with the LeakHunt embed already selected.

  2. In the editor, make sure the LeakHunt embed’s switch is on. It applies to every page of the store; there’s nothing to place.

  3. Click Save in the theme editor.

  4. Return to the LeakHunt tab. The card reads Waiting for you to add & save it in the theme editor… until it notices the embed, then the guard switches on for you and the Extension Guard switch appears. If the card still hasn’t updated after a moment, reload the page.

Check it worked

The Extension Guard card now shows a switch, on, with the description Stops coupon extensions from auto-applying codes. From here the switch turns the guard off and on for the whole store, immediately.

Orders protected · 30 days starts counting as soon as a shopper with a coupon extension checks out while a leaked code is locked. On a store with no live leaks there’s nothing to lock, so the number stays at zero until there is.

If you publish a new theme

The embed is a setting of the theme, not of the store. If you publish a different theme, the card goes back to Not added to your live theme yet, and the same steps switch it on there.
